IT Support Technician
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Livonia Office


Job Summary:
The Information Technology Support Technician will be responsible for supporting the day to day operations and technology preservation of a multi-location, Windows Server 2007 and Windows 2003 network. This includes the maintenance and support of desktop systems, multiple servers, and Microsoft Exchange email system. This position will support all users as well as the Sr. Management team. As an experienced IT professional, you will use your technical knowledge and skills for all requests and continually strategize for new improvements and increased technology efficiencies.

 

Detailed Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the maintenance and upgrades of desktop, server, and email systems.
  • Maintain existing computer and email systems and make recommendations for upgrades when necessary.
  • Maintenance of all security and internal controls.
  • Maintain security access at user level.
  • Maintain PDA and all portable systems.
  • Development and maintenance of the Qualigence SharePoint server/intranet.
  • Work with third party technology suppliers and consultants.
  • Work with phone vendors and telecommunication providers to maintain and upgrade current telephone and Internet services.
  • Install,and/or move, new desktop systems and phones when needed and train new employees on usage.
  • When notified of a technology malfunction, troubleshoot and repair in a timely manner as to maintain employee productivity.
  • Identify ways to control network traffic providing efficiencies to the system.
  • Prioritize assignments and requests based on deadlines and urgency. Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Maintain knowledge and expertise of industry enhancements and changes.
Technical Responsibilities in Relation to Qualigence System:
  • Setup, monitor, maintain Windows 2007 Servers, Windows 2003 Servers, Exchange 2007, WSUS,
  • Administer network resources such as user and file management, email and server backups.
  • Maintain patches and virus software updates on clients and servers.
  • Maintain a detailed listing of all hardware, software, licenses and IT infrastructure.
  • Setup and administer network devices such as routers, switches, print servers.
  • LAN/WAN hardware configuration and troubleshooting (switches, routers, firewalls).
  • Utilize understanding of networking concepts and technologies such as VPN/ TCP/IP/DNS/WINS/Subnets/Active Directory/WAP.

Communication
  • Effectively communicate technology issues, or changes, to staff members when necessary.
  • You will also establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications (in a user-friendly language) with the organization's Executives, Department Heads, and End Users regarding pertinent Network activities.
  • For individual employee technology problems, clearly communicate the reason for the problem and when repair is expected.
  • Reporting directly to the CEO, provide ongoing status of technology problems or enhancements so expectations are always clear and understood.
  • Be an effective team player in an atmosphere where the overall objective is to meet our clients' needs and deadlines.
Position Requirements and Competencies:
  • Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent experience and education
  • Experience in a Network Administration type role.; MCSE 2000/2003/2007
  • Ability to test, plan, document and deploy web based and client/server applications
  • Knowledge of workstation and server hardware configuration and troubleshooting
  • Strong Computer Knowledge and Troubleshooting Skills
  • Ability to Multi-Task
  • Ability to experiment with alternative techniques to obtain successful results
  • Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Maintains a "can-do" attitude
  • Ability to work in a fluid and team-oriented environment
